Amelia Fais Harnas : Wine Stain Portraits
Amelia Fais Harnas has been creating Wine Stain Portraits for some time now, and has recently released a whole new batch. In some of her work, she likes to mix embroidery along with the wine staining:
Some of the wine stains are embroidered, continuing in the original style. The embroidery redefines the drawing and gives me an opportunity to play with ragged edges and loose threads.
It is this alluring dance between control and chaos that compels me to make portraits with wine – that, and the fact that I can drink my medium while I paint with it, with a highly positive outcome.
It’s pretty incredible to think of the skill it must take to create these, and the pessimist in me wonders how often she messes up and has to start over? The optimist wonders if she just runs with it? Check out more after the jump!
