John Schipp : Hobo Nickel Sculptures

John Schipp has a unique way of sculpting and creating a new collection of coins that he calls the Grandma Schipp’s Family Album. The collection is sculpted out of nickel coins.
The name Hobo Nickel comes from the popularity of the U.S. nickel to hobo’s because they were often the easiest to get. Schipp also finds it popular because of its size, softness, and thickness (I’m still talking about the coins, here). All of these allow Schipp to create new designs on the coin.
